Camshaft grinding requires instantaneous changes in wheel-work contact length and material removal rates. In camshaft grinding, the arc of the contact between the wheel and the camlobe changes continuously as the base circle, flanks and nose are ground (see illustration).
One cam will not do everything well, you may have to make "tradeoffs". In other words, if you want to drag race with a cam that pulls at 6800 rpm, don't expect the engine to chug around on the street very comfortably. Cams have power bands, "sweet spots" or RPM ranges that they work best in.

Due to the high lift of these cams, S&S adjustable pushrods are recommended. Not all grinds are available in the chain drive version. To get the best performance from a performance cam installation, a high flow intake and exhaust system is also recommended.

I asked for a grind that would WORK well for the street, pull good on bottom end and cruise well at 2000-2400 RPM to work with my 3.12 rear gear and 31"tires. As I understand it Pete has been grinding cams and winning at Bonneville since the 50's.
